All That Scraps Challenge

Jenn O., another designer for All That Scraps, is going to be heading up some weekly Challenges. This time I was able to play. The challenge was to use these colors on your card - Summer Sun, Wild Wasabi and Chocolate Chip. I don't have any Wild Wasabi so I substituted Old Olive instead. This is the project I came up with using Froggie and Friends...As soon as I saw the frog image I knew he had to be riding on the back of his turtle friend. All supplies are from Stampin' Up! except the patterned paper and the stamps. The patterned paper is from the Mellow Collection from Basic Grey. I hope you have a friend who you know would stick their neck out for you. I have several and count myself as being very blessed because of that!

Froggie and Friends and a Turtle Too!

Let me clue you in on one of the fun things about being on the CC Designs design team. Christine will draw a set and show us a few images before the set is ever turned into glorious rubber images. I was able to see some adorable images to the new set called Froggie and Friends in March I believe, and I was immediately excited to get that set in my hands! I love frogs and turtles. So here is my first sample with Froggie and Friends. This set is huge, has lots of words, 2 frogs, dragonfly, snail, turtle, cat tails, and more!

I can't tell you much about the supplies on this one because Christine has been doing something else that is such fun! She has been sending us little kits with the new stamps that include card stock and embellishments and on at least one sample we can only use the supplies provided. This is one of those kits. I really like how it turned out! The fly, cat tails, turtle and hat are all separate images as is the greeting "Sorry I'm late..." Inside it says "did I miss cake?" Funny huh? I LOVE this ribbon! It matches Bashful Blue from Stampin' Up perfectly! Enjoy your day and if you have any birthday cards to make you best get busy or you'll have to make a card like this!

Hello Layla!

Isn't she cute?!? This is another one of the new cuties from CC Designs new set Layla and Virginia. I paired it with some pretty paper from My Minds Eye. I just love this paper and keep thinking I need to order some more! I water colored the main image with Stampin' Up! inks and an aqua painter, added some Certainly Celery brads and some sweet little prima flowers with More Mustard brads and Ruby Red brads as well. So Little Time!

I can't believe it has been so long since I was able to stamp!! I seem to have very little free time and this month I have been very tired. I haven't laid down during the day to nap since my 4 year old was about 6 months old and I found myself laying on the couch several days this past week and a couple days the week before! But, I got happy mail last week! Some new release sets from C.C. Designs!! I have prepared one project so far but I can't show you until tomorrow. When our 4 year old potty trained (in September) we promised her a trip to see the elephants. No Zoo's in Michigan have elephants any longer so a trip to Toledo was in order. It isn't a bad drive, just 2 hours and as long as you aren't cringing at the amount of gas it takes to get there it is quite leisurely. So they saw the elephants and the polar bears (our 6 year old's favorite animal). We met some friends down there and had a wonderful day. Just Celebrate Invitation

These are the birthday party invitations for my youngest daughter's party. She will be turning 4 later this week. Last year we did Curious George and when asked what kind of party she wanted this year she said she wanted Curious George again. But her favorite animal is the elephant so when I got the adorable set "Just Celebrate" from the mini catalog, I knew I had to use it on her invites. She ended up telling me a jungle party was fine. The funny thing is that we never do a ton of decorations when we do a themed party. Usually it is just the ivites, thank-you's and a banner. Plus, we almost always do her party outside since usually the weather in Michigan is nice enough to do that by the end of May/begining of June...who needs decorations when you are outside?

So, this is the invite and I think it turned out super cute. I love doing simple invites mainly because I don't really like doing a bunch of cards exactly the same anyway, so the more simple the better! Plus, the 3 and 4 year olds who are getting them will appreciate it no matter how fancy it is.

I colored the elephant in with Prismacolor pencils and a blending stump. My friend Lori was over this past Friday and she brought hers for me to try. I liked them but it seemed like alot of work - the blending part. I may just need more practice too! I used both the Mega and Giga Scallop punches from Marvy. In addition I used my new toy - the Punches Plus Brass Template from Stampin' Up! It is an embossing template that has images of most of our punches (including the ovals) and around the image is the PERFECT paper piercing template to mimic the punch. So, I just used the "you're invited" stamp from my Family Phrases set and punched it out with the large oval. The I used dimensionals to pop it up on the front of the card, laid the template down and paper pierced the oval around it. The perfect touch!

Lily and Milo

Last night my girlfriends came over to stamp (hi Lorien and Lori!!) Lorien's parents did a great job and she is an amazing sharer of all things rubber related so she came not only to work on a few projects but with some stamps she said "I thought you might like to stamp some images." When I saw this little girl with the bird I couldn't resist and I almost couldn't stop coloring her. I did quit and went to bed around midnight and finished the coloring and card this afternoon. Isn't it adorable? Lulu Loves Presents

This card was done for a challenge that Christine issued to the All That Scraps Designers for this weekend. We were to create a card using pink cardstock and some brown only. We were allowed to use any other colors for the main image but the cardstock had to be pink or brown. Both my middle and youngest daughters have birthdays coming up so I think I'll give this one to my soon to be 6 year old. She loves cats and pink is her favorite color so I think she'll like it. Just Celebrate!

This ADORABLE elephant image is from a set in the Stampin' Up! mini catalog and is available until the end of June. My youngest LOVES elephants and the artwork in this set is just adorable. Each stamp in the set has a word that is attached to it. Originally the elephant was attached to the saying "new baby" but there is enough room on most of the stamps to cut the words off and mount them on the end of your block and use them with anything you like. So this elephant is celebrating! The printed paper is from "Summer Picnic" which is one of my favorites. I love the bright summer feel of these papers. I water colored the elephant with Bashful Blue ink and did some zig-zag stitching with my paper piercer along the top and bottom of the Real Red panel. You can't really tell in the photo but I used my Crop-o-dile to put three embossed circles along the bottom of the Pumpkin Pie matt. Did you notice there are no embellishments on this one?!?! That doesn't happen often when I am creating a project but I thought it was cute even without any ribbon, bling or glitter!

Quick Mother's Day Card

Here is a quick card for Mother's Day but really cute! This was made with the Punches Plus Classy Brass template from Stampin' Up! A really simple to use template that incorporates paper piercing templates that fit PERFECTLY around the geometric shapes that you can emboss. This is one product I glanced over until another demonstrator showed it to us at the SCS Birch Run weekend this past March. It also uses the set Blooming with Love - which I love! Simply stamp the single flower in Timber Brown Staz On and color the petals with your White Signo Gel Pen and emboss the square using the classy brass template, pierce using the same template, stamp your greeting, add some new Chocolate Chip Poly Twill Ribbon and you are all done!

Princess Birthday

One of my daughters is a huge girly-girl and for my birthday my secret sister for a SCS get together sent me a $15 gift certificate for some Lizzie Anne Designs stamps. I chose the set I used to create this girly card. My 5 year old had a birthday party to go to on Friday and this is the card I made. Unfortunately she didn't end up going because she got croup AGAIN. She gets it several times a year and this time she had a fever for a couple days so she missed 2 days of school and the party. She was a trooper though. I watercolored the images with my Aquapainter and SU ink. After it was all done I used my Stardust Gel Pen to add some sparkle on the castle shingles and parts of the princesses dress. I had to do the masking technique to get her hat to sit on her head...it took me awhile get it right but I finally did. "I Want Fabulous!"

If you have girls you know that line is from a song in High School Musical 2. The girl who sings it is named Sharpay and although her character is a terrible snob the song is fun! "All things fabulous, bigger and better is best."

This gal reminds me of Sharpay to some degree. This is Shari from one of Christine's newest sets - Glam Girlz. This set has 3 adorable girls in it, words and a stamp that looks like sparkles.

I know you can't see it in this post but I used a Stardust sparkle pen on the glasses and the ring she is wearing. I love this printed paper but I'm not sure who it is by. If you check out the ATS blog Christine may have it listed there. She sent the DT members "mini kits" of goodies and we had to use what was in the kit and nothing more (except ink). So all the goodies you see on this card were straight from ATS. I love the color combo and it didn't take long for this card to come together at all. I love the hair on Shari but wait till you see Gwenny...she's my favorite and she carries a purse which is perfect for my upcoming weekend. You'll have to stop by tomorrow to check her out.

Whooo hoooo - Lookee...New Stamps!

A Hootin Good Time is a new set from CC Designs! Isn't this owl adorable? This set comes with a bunch of adorably drawn owls, a tree, a branch, some sayings and the leaves for the branches (or clouds). This is my first sample from the new releases from CC Designs. The new sets will be available on May 4th at 12:01 am! You'll love this new set and I am sure you'll "have to have it"! There are 16 pieces in this set and there are 8 owls! All of them have their own unique personality! Run over and check them out at All That Scraps! Admittadly the saying "whoo! hoo!" isn't in the set..this saying came from a Stampin' Up! set called Just Celebrate. It was just so cute I had to add it to this card. The designer paper is from the Fall Flowers package from Stampin' Up! as well. I hope you enjoy it!

I Love a Fun Purse

Well, this weekend I am off with some girlfriends doing something I have been waiting to do for the past year! I'm in Fort Wayne at the Vera Bradley sale. I LOVE Vera Bradley bags and don't really carry much else. Mind you though, that doesn't mean I have a lot of them. They are pricey for my pocket book (if you spend on purses, it means you have less to spend on stamps!). I own a Capri Melon backpack and a Mesa Red On the Go bag. Just 2. My Mesa is my fall/winter and my capri is my spring/summer. At the sale, they have bags for $10! Wallets for $3! I can't wait to spruce up my collection. My goal is to find a Java Blue Bowler. And as many more as I can in varying prints!

Anyway, back to the sample! This is another of the girls from Glam Girlz set and she is carrying a purse, so I thought it would be perfect card to send to one of my girlfriends after our weekend away. I used some Basic Grey Mellow paper and paper pieced the pants and the purse. These girls are perfect for paper piecing. I don't do too well cutting out little details for paper piecing and the large open spaces on the Girlz make it easy for me to spruce em up with printed paper! I used the Stardust pen on her glasses as well and sparkled up the stripes in her pants. The ribbon and brads are from Stampin' Up! Enjoy!

"Megan" in Basic Grey

FINALLY! For Christmas our oldest daughter wanted her own room. She had been sharing with her 5 year old sister and the 3 year old had her own room. So, the 8 year old got her Christmas wish but up until Saturday the walls hadn't been painted so it still looked like a baby room. This Saturday 2 of my girlfriends came over and helped me paint her room while she was away with daddy for the weekend. It isn't completely finished. See that strip of white at the top of the wall? In there I will be painting some paisleys and flowers. She got a chocolate quilt for her bed that has flowers and paisleys embroidered with white thread throughout. It is such a grown up room.

I made her the monogram letters for Christmas and up until today they were sitting in a drawer. I used some large wooden letters from JoAnn's, some chocolate colored paint for the sides of the letters, various Basic Grey paper from their Blush line, and some chipboard from Stampin' Up!. With paper as beautiful as Basic Grey's there is no need to put all kinds of "stuff" all over the letters. I decorated the "M" with some Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon and some Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon. I used my word window punch and punched out three words from Everyday Flexible Phrases - "sweet", "special", and "daughter" and hung those with linen thread from the ribbons. The "E" and "A" are plain. The "G" has a chipboard flower I built with Stampin' Up!'s chipboard blossoms. It was so easy to make because all the petals are separate so I just covered each petal with different paper. The center of the flower has a pink rhinestone brad in the middle of it. And finally, the "N" just has some more ribbon on it. The letters are all hung with some double stitched chocolate colored ribbon I fond at JoAnn's. I am really excited to see her room coming together for her!

It's Been So Long!

I apologize for not getting a post on here in so long! Really, I haven't even stamped since the last posting! Last night I sat down and made a project from a new stamp set that Christine at CC Designs has created! I can't wait to share it with you. But for today here is a simple and easy card that we did at my last stamp camp...We were making spring cards, anything with flowers. I love this color combo and remember one of the Christmas cards we did at my Christmas Card Stamp a Stack was done in these colors. I guess the colors aren't very springy, but I think they are pretty all the same.

I was at Cha!!!

Can you believe it? I can't. I bet I had a great time. No, I'm sure I did. I'm sure the excitement was amazing! How much you want to bet that I hung out with Taylor VanBruggen, Julie Ebersole and maybe even Nicole Hedy? Here's the story....I was looking at the Eclectic Paperie blog http://eclecticpaperie.blogspot.com/ and they were chitter chattering about them now carrying Lizzie Anne Designs stamps (you know I love their stuff!). So, they were saying that they saw them at Cha and loved the samples they had in their booth and that they have such talent in their design team and then I saw it! MY CARD! I sent it to the ladies at Lizzie Anne Designs some time ago. I think I sent it when I returned a stamp set to them that they had sent me in error. Now, let me say I am NOT a design team member at Lizzie Anne, though I would love to be! So, if anyone over at LAD sees this post remember, you must have liked me a bit to stuff me in your bag and take me to Cha! All That Scraps Sketch

Amy Rysavy has been giving us gals on the design team at All That Scraps sketches for Fridays and as of yet I haven't been able to participate. But, tonight (or should I say this morning?) I made myself participate...I say that I made myself do it because it is now 12:05 AM!!! I was tired at 9:15 but I have a workshop tomorrow (I still haven't decided what we are doing) and a stamp a stack on Saturday. I had to get my stuff cut for that! (And I still have one card to cut up!!) But, I wanted to play with the new Beautiful Butterflies set that Christine sent to us! Check out the All That Scraps blog to see more samples with this sketch!

I used some paper that I found recently and I loved the colors! It is made by scenic route and is designed by Sarah Milne. I stamped the butterfly with Timber Brown Staz On and colored it with my Pumpkin Pie, Apricot and Soft Sky Stampin' Up! inks. Then I stamped the butterfly onto some vellum card stock and did the stained glass technique and colored the vellum wings. Then I adhered them to make this beauty 3-d. I hope you all have a great weekend! I don't know if I will have a chance to share the last couple projects from the stamp a stack until late this weekend but I'll try!

Hello Spring!

Sample number 2 from my up-coming class. I adore Bashful Blue with just about any shade of red but this one uses Real Red. I am also really loving the new striped ribbon from Stampin' Up!. I got the basic idea for this card from someone on Splitcoaststampers but I changed it up a bit. The greeting is from Hi & Hello. It was on my first order in January when the new catalog came out and this is the first time I have inked it up! Isn't that terrible?! If you are attending on Saturday, I look forward to seeing you!

Today is a beautiful day and we have been lucky enough to have had several nice days recently. The frogs are all singin their song in the woods behind our house! All the cards in this class will be floral themed! Bring on spring!

Do you like this one? I LOVE it! I don't usually mix patterned papers very well. I get all nervous thinking the patterns don't really match, so when a company makes an entire line of paper they usually take the guess work out of it for me. There are papers that I really like...and then there are very few paper lines that I think, "I need to buy 10 sheets of each!" These are some of those papers! They are by My Minds Eye - if you check out the collection of My Minds Eye paper at All that Scraps, you'll be in heaven. Such eye candy.

This card has alot of layers on it...they are layered in differing heights too. A friend (hi Lorie!) loaned me some dimensionals at the Birch Run weekend. She said, "Just keep 'em, they are way to think..I don't like them." Well, I love that if you want a really dimensional project they are thicker than the Stampin' Up! dimensionals so you can easily stack things up. I have to find out where she got them because I used them all!

The image is water colored with Stampin' Up! inks and an aquapainter. I used Ruby Red brads on the plaid panel and Mustard and Celery grosgrain ribbon from Stampin Up! I hope you have a great day!

It's Raining Here In Michigan

This image is so fitting for the weather in Michigan today. We even had thunder today and a power surge. We had our candles out and ready for a power loss. Here is another chick from the new Hey Chicky set. I paired it with an Amuse sentiment. Wouldn't this be adorable to get if you weren't feeling well? You can't really tell from the photo, but I used Crystal Effects to create rain drops and also made a puddle at the chick's feet. I don't know where the patterned paper is from. I'm sorry. It was from some sort of paper stack - my mom shared with me again. And, don't you love those cute little dew drops in the corner??? Bet you thought that I used my Crystal Effects and waited for 2 days for it to dry..NOPE! Robin's Nest Dew Drops...they come like that in a bazillion colors. All you do is add a mini glue dot to the back and PRESTO! Check them out at All That Scraps!

Hey Chicky!!

Here is my first Chicky card! Christine debuted the design team members Chicky cards yesterday and I hadn't had a chance to play with them and send her my first sample so you get to see it here first. This set is called Hey Chicky. Cute huh? And I have completely bought into the birdy stamp phase that is going on right now so any new birdies in my collection makes me sing!

I had such fun with this! This whole set is adorable and I hope to get a few more done today. If I haven't told you yet, I love the Summer Picnic designer paper from Stampin' Up. The colors are great and I have always loved blue, red and green together and this paper has lots of that! I used my Stampin Up! inks and an aqua painter to color the image and the slit punch to make the scallop border. Not a fancy card, but fun to make and easy to duplicate! Hint, hint! If you do duplicate it in some way, post your link here so I can take a peek. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

Its All About the Presents! And Giveaway Link!

This adorable image is one that is in the Its My Birthday Set from C.C. Designs as well as the monkey. I love it! Lulu is one of my favorite "characters" that Christine draws. (I think my favorite is Lucky but Lulu is right up there. Wait till you see the Lucky stamp in this set!) Anyway, another set that will be released Friday morning is "Hey Chicky". If you check out the All That Scraps blog http://atsblog.typepad.com/ats/ you'll see a bunch of samples that the other design team members created (mine aren't on there because I hadn't had a chance to upload and send it to Christine). BUT, the fun part is that she's giving away some fun flock and some glitter flowers just for posting a comment to her entry. So, run on over there and try to get some flock!

Now, back to this card....The color inspiration came from the printed paper. This paper is from the current Stampin Up Occasions Mini Collection catalog. It is called Summer Picnic. That fun ribbon is some that I won at the Birch Run splitcoaststampers event. It works perfectly don't you think? I colored LuLu with ink refills and an aqua painter. Lulu fit perfectly in my Marvy Giga Oval Punch. As for the sentiment....isn't that the cutest?!?!? I used my Stampin' Up! More Mustard brads for accents on the sentiment block and the card was done.

Sneak Peek!

Here is the first sneak peek from a bunch of new stuff that C.C. Designs is releasing early on Friday morning (12:01 am to be exact!) This is my absolute favorite set of the new designs and may be my favorite C.D. Designs set ever! Isn't this monkey the cutest!?! Both of the printed papers are from All That Scraps and is created by Sassafrass Lass. I used this paper at Valentines Day this year and it is perfect for spring/summer as well. The layout for this card is done for this week's sketch challenge at Splitcoaststampers. I colored this cute little guy with my Stampin' Up! ink and an aquapainter. The First Baby Girl

A friend of mine is having her third child and this will be the first girl. She is so excited. Julia Grace isn't due until June but some friends of her's threw her a shower today and I had much fun making her a girly card done in mom's favorite colors of pink and brown. The patterned paper is from Close to My Heart (I know, GASP, I purchased from "the other" company, but a friend had a party and I felt like I had to order something, it is really pretty paper though). The adorable fairy is from Lizzie Anne Designs. I added Stickles because, well....every girl needs some sparkle!

Birthday Invite - First Sleepover!

Our oldest daughter is turning 9 next Saturday. I can't believe she is that old already! Every year since her first birthday we have had a party, except for last year. We usually do parties here at home with streamers, homemade decorations and balloons but last year she chose to have one friend spend the day with her and her daddy going bowling. This year we are having her first sleepover! YIKES! I hope it goes well. Initially I wanted a "sleepover" invitation but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Ever since All In The Family came out, Megan has adored that set so when my friend Lorien (waving hi to her!) said I could borrow it, I knew I'd have to use it on the invites. I used some retired designer series paper from Stampin' Up! on the front and my Marvy Giga Scallop Oval. Very simple card but I really love how it turned out. Very fun yet girly at the same time. We are only inviting 4 girls to stay and in the inside of the card, all along the bottom I stamped different girls in Pretty In Pink ink. Not enough color to scream at you, but just enough to see the girls. I then used a Regal Rose marker and wrote the name of each girl next to the one that represented her. They were in a row straight across the bottom inside of the card. It turned out so cute! There are Cotton Candy Stickles on the dress and party hat of the girl on the front. Be praying for my survival a week from tonight as we have our first sleepover!

Look What I Got!

Christine at All That Scraps is beginning to plan the 1st Birthday of C.C. Designs stamps. It incredible that it is HER birthday but design team members we got an incredible birthday present FROM her! Look at what was waiting for me today!! Can you say background stamps? A new Lucky and Lulu set (special appearance by the monkey and a much needed accessory), some cute chickies, a great set for Father's Day cards and more!!! I can't wait to start playing with these and sneaking you some peaks!!!

Staples?

I don't know, I just can't get into the look of staples. This is another swap for the DKOS swap on Splitcoaststampers. We had to use the st Always (LOVE this set!) and we had to include staples on our card and pop something up. I have never been a real fan of staples so it was really out of the box for me to include them. We also had to use these colors (we could add So Saffron if we wanted to). I made the scallop strip with my slit punch and the bird was done with the Rock and Roll technique. It is a bit difficult to roll the bird when he isn't round, but it worked out fine I think.

One of a Kind

This little one measures just 4 1/4" x 4 1/4". This was for another Different Kind of Swap over at Splitcoaststampers. We had to use the set One of a Kind and at least one color from the Earth Elements color family. We also had to add some embellishment. For this I stamped the flower in Chocolate Chip and then used my aquapainter to fade out the color. I cut the flower out and lightly tipped the petals up. My sentiment is punched out with the small oval punch from Stampin' Up! and raised on dimensionals. And I love the new Poly Twill Ribbon. It is in the new mini catalog and available in Chocolate Chip and Old Olive. It is so silky feeling and narrow like the gingham ribbon. I hope you have a great day. Things seem to be warming up, a little bit, here in Michigan. I hope springy weather arrives very soon!

Love Pocket Cards!

Here is another sample using So Much. Usually when I sit down to make a card, I gravitate toward just your standard card - it's simple - grab your paper, cut it and fold. Do you do that too? I forget about all the other ways you can make your card. I like making cards that deviate from your traditional card fold, but yet I like simple things...pocket cards are very simple, yet different from the standard card! I used the ribbon to make a center to the flower. After making a hole with my Anywhere Hole Punch from my Crafter's Tool Kit, I knotted my ribbon and pulled the ribbon through so the knot would be the center of the flower. Then I pulled my ribbon ends around the card and adhered under the flap. Really simple but a fun element.

So Much...Fun!

The set "So Much" was given to all Stampin Up! regional attendees this year. I attended regionals in the fall. I have used this set a few times and I really like it, but sometimes the size of the images makes it hard to work with for cards. It is much better suited for scrapbook pages. One of the ladies on Splitcoaststampers is hostessing a swap using this set since it seems so underused. I signed up for two spots and this is the first sample.

I got the color combo from some designer paper Stampin Up! carried last spring. I also haven't used a button on a project in ages! What is wrong with me? They are such a cute addition and works perfectly in the center of this flower doesn't it?

Isn't this bird the sweetest? At the Birch Run weekend someone made a swap with this adorable bird on it, and since I love birds I made sure to find out where this stamp came from. It is from a set made by Heidi Grace and I found out they carry it at JoAnn's. Imagine my excitement when I stopped at JoAnn's on my way home and found it was only $7.99 and was 40% off! I snatched it up quick!

Another Winner

This is the other card that came in 3rd place at the Birch Run stampin festivities this past weekend. The challenge here was to use the microscope slide, the skinny piece of vanilla card stock and the skinny piece of Chocolate Chip card stock. We were able to use any stamp set we wanted to and had to keep in mind that the microscope slide was to be able be removed and used as a gift (such as a magnet or pin). I chose to use Blooming with Love. This set is a new set and I adore it! I love the images and they lend themselves perfectly to water coloring! This is also the first time I have done a card that is tall like this. I usually stay away from shapes other than the traditional card size because I am too cheap to spend extra postage on envelopes! But as I looked at the slide I knew I had to make my card a long card.

Scalloped Flower

Not only are these colors "absolutely fabulous" together, but this flower is so fun to make! I love finding out of the box uses for supplies and this flower done with the scallop punch is one of them! Not only that, it is so simple. On this card I punched a Black and Regal Rose scallop using the Stampin' Up! scallop circle punch. Then I snipped up along each scallop and bent some of the "petals" up. Stack the Rose one on top of the black and then using a scrap of black I punched one of flowers out of the new Bo-Ho Blossoms punch and secured it in the center with a rhinestone brad. Isn't it cute? The swirl and leaves that complete the flower are from the Sale-a-bration set Friendship Blooms. The sentiment is popped up on dimensionals and is from the set Absolutely Fabulous...inside it says "No, seriously you are!"

Hello!

A friend of mine placed an order with Amuse right after the Elzybells "Friendship Collection" was released. I have had much restraint and have not placed any orders except with Stampin' Up! but she was sweetheart and let me stamp some images when I saw her last month. This adorable image is "Gossip Girl" and don't you think this paper is a great match? See the blue curlie-q's? I thought it looked like a telephone cord. How many of us even have phone's with cord's anymore?!?!? (Honestly we do have one in our bedroom! At least it isn't rotary!) For this one we had to use an Elzybells stamp, printed paper and it had to be a 4 1/4" square card, use designer paper and an embellishment. I used Night of Navy and Real Red card stock. Throw in some scallops and the SU Circle Scallop Punch and a simple sentiment from the Fundamental Flexible Phrases set and it's done!

Bet You Didn't Know I Had a Sister!

Isn't this card the prettiest?!?! For the SCS stamping event this weekend we were hooked up with secret sisters to send cards to over the last couple months. It just so happened that my little sister found me out right away and we have had fun getting to know one another BEFORE the event! My little sister was Vicki (craftcrazy98) and at the event this weekend she presented me with this beautiful thank you card and a candle holder that she etched using a matching stamp from Friendship Blooms! I ADORE this pretty card and you know what? The only stamping done on this is the polka dotted background, all the rest are rub-ons! I love the colors of this and the layout! I imagine Vicki and I aren't done chatting and I am hoping that she sends me notes in the mail often because she does incredible work! Thanks Vicki!

Birch Run Stamping Weekend

Wheew! I'm home from my weekend of stamping (it wasn't a whole weekend just Friday through Saturday.) I had a great time and can't wait to share some projects with you! Let me start by telling you that this Splitcoaststampers event was held in Birch Run, Michigan and it was just a 25 min drive. Those are the kind of get aways that I like! Very little driving allowing for much more fun at the destination!

Friday night we were able to grab some seats and there was a little time to get to know the people around you and some free stamping time. But the bulk of the evening were the three challenges that three of the organizers prepared for us to work on. For this project we were provided with white as our card base, two images from the set called "Bitty Birthday", the patterned paper seen here (from the new mini catalog), and the ribbon seen here. We were required to use pieces of all the items provided to us but we could also add anything we wanted to. So I set out to make this birthday card using the cake from a hostess set called "Blooming With Happiness" from last year. I did some faux stitching on the patterned paper and used my Canvas background stamp with Soft Sky ink on the Soft Sky panels. I covered the white base with the Chocolate Chip card stock and colored the cake with aqua painters and re-inker. When the coloring was done I added some Stickles to the candle flames and flowers. Finally I added ribbon on the side of the matted image.

I was really proud of this card and was going to present it when I realized that none of the 30 other people who were working on theirs had used an image other than the ones provided! As I read the directions a bit closer I realized that we were required to use a portion of the images provided. I was devastated and had figured I had to rip off my cake and start over but then I got smart! On one of the images in this set has a gift bag on it and a little tag on the bag. To salvage my card I simply colored the tag and cut it out and carefully mounted it's tiny little self to the side of the cake dish! I ended up taking 3rd place with this card out of about 30 samples!

Even though I was totally stressed about my inability to follow directions, I really had fun making it!

Jami's Bike

Here is the second sample I did for Jami's swap. The top flap on this card flips up and then the bike flap folds down. Here are the instructions for this one:

Your card stock should measure 8 1/2 x 5.

Score your card stock at 3 3/4. When you fold along this score just fold the remaining portion down over your card to make the top flap. Super easy.

Don't you think the ribbon accent is cute?! I love the look of striped ribbon but hate the cost so I just used my 5/8" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain and my pink gingham and layered them on top of one another! The white greeting is heat embossed on the top flap to add to the card as well. That top flap reminds me of an awning when you use the slit punch to make a scalloped edge - again just a little detail to add! The only thing I wish this set had was a cute little flower stamp that could make backgrounds. However, I did find that my Simply Said set had a flower that worked perfectly!

Jami's Ocassions Mini Swap

I always love doing Jami's swaps. Not just because it gives me a chance to play with my stuff, but because the samples I receive back are so great! The quality is really good and it forces you to really do your best. The groups are small enough that you can use embellishments that you might otherwise hoard too! This is the first of my two samples in this swap. Don't you just LOVE these colors? The patterned paper is in the new mini catalog and is called Summer Picnic. I'll be ordering a pack or two of this throughout the order periods (March 1- May 31) I used the set Time for You for both of my cards. You have seen a few samples here on my blog using the bike but for this card I used the bench. I just think it is so sweet and again, reminds me of summer! Today it is 54 degrees here in Michigan - a heat wave! But, I won't get too comfortable because I understand it is supposed to dip to 16 tonight and we will start getting snow which will come and go all week! Hopefully this card brings you some sunshine!

I can't believe I found a bit of time to work on a sketch challenge! I told my friend Marcy today that I feel like a stamping idiot. I don't know what is wrong. I do find however that I tend to run in spurts and taking part in a couple challenges always seems to pull me out of my rut. The card itself is really very simple to make and isn't very fancy because when I sat down at my table it was to prepare for yet another stamp club and I don't usually want to make these cards really time consuming. Happy Birthday Birdie!

I still am enjoying this set, A Little Birdie Told Me. I am preparing for some stamp club meetings I knew I wanted to teach them paper piecing and this bird is perfect for that! In addition to teaching some of my stamp clubs a new skill, they will get to use the jumbo eyelets, new striped ribbon and the Crop-o-dile. In this photo, it is hard to see the cute little circles the Crop-o-dile embossed along the side of the Pumpkin Pie panel. The color combo is one that was taken from the new catalog. Isn't it bright and cheerful?!? Sometimes we get so caught up in using lots of different papers, embellishments, layers, and if we let ourselves make a simple card we can be happily surprised how nice it turns out!

Emerging Color Technique

I have a stamp club meeting on Friday and needed to come up with a new technique to show. I chose "Emerging Color" and will more than likely do this technique for most of my stamp clubs. The process is really quite easy.

You stamp a smaller image in different colors randomly over a piece of white card stock. Then using a solid image stamp it with Versa Mark ink and heat emboss it with Clear Embossing Powder. After you have done that, you simply brayer a darker color over the entire sheet and wipe clean when you have covered it completely! Isn't that easy?!?!

I distressed the edges of the Soft Sky panel and the Guava mat as well. I wish I could say that the chocolate ribbon is still available from Stampin Up! but it isn't. They retired it with the catalog that came out in July. Of course we still have the 5/8" Chocolate, but I thought it was too wide for this application. I hope you have a great day!

Will I Ever Stamp For Fun Again?

HI all! I apologize for my lack of posting! I have been stamping, but only a little bit. I am doing another swap with Jami at SCS and we are not allowed to upload our photos until after she has started swapping them out....element of surprise! So, as soon as those get swapped out (more than likely by Monday) I can share the two designs I did for her swap. But in the meantime, I have been so busy with Stamp Club workshops this month that I have hardly stamped for fun! I'm sorry I don't have anything to share but am hoping to get some stamping time in today or tomorrow. I have another stamp club meeting on so I'll need to come up with 2 projects for that as well! I am also getting revved up for a Splitcoaststampers weekend in Birch Run next weekend! I can't wait! It is my present to myself for my birthday, which is coming up on the 5th! I'll be gone from Friday to Saturday evening and the weekend will be full of stamping fun! Organized challenges, demonstrations by a couple of the Dirty Dozen Girls, and lots of friends! I've also made it a goal to have something published this year and I need to start submitting if that is ever going to happen! I can't wait for SAB to be over! Lovin this Bike or am I Desperate for Spring?

Here is another card made with that adorable little bike! I also used the new printed paper again (just a different design). I really love this color combo because it screams "summer!" I must be desperate for winter to end. I have never disliked winter as much as I do now that I have kids! Sure, I love it for the holiday season, but I hate having my kids cooped up in the house so much. They go out and play some, but what a chore getting them ready to go out! Thankfully the 8 and 5 year old can do it themselves, but the 3 year old still needs help. And, it seems mom is the one checking to be sure that all the clothes get in the bathtub and hung up to dry (oooh, how I wish we had a mud room).

I heat embossed the background on the Bashful Blue panel with the Polka Dot background stamp. I've done this on several cards recently, I just really like the extra touch it gives a project. I used my Stampin Write Markers to color the image in and then used my Crop-o-dile to set those Real Red eyelets. I hope you have a great day and get to stamp some!

Always On My Mind

Here is another made with the set Always....I have really enjoyed this color combo lately and this was an easy card to make as well. This is going to be my shoebox swap in Birch Run in a few weeks. A shoebox swap is when you design a card, cut up all the supplies and leave everything out that the person needs to use to create your card. Then you rotate through and make the cards. It is lots of fun as a demonstrator because we are always creating and cutting supplies for OTHER people, this time we get to have someone cut and create for us! I'm really excited! The only thing that will be different on the shoebox swap will be the ribbon. I'll be using the 5/8" Old Olive Grosgrain. I love that ribbon! I hope you are all having a great weekend!

Swappin Time Again

Whenever a new catalog comes out I hostess a New Catalog Swap on Splitcoaststampers for demonstrators. I usually take a few spots so I can have an excuse to play with any new toys I get. This is one of the swaps I did for one of those groups. Ilike to make swaps that are cards a customer could look at and know she could duplicate it easily, but still has some element that makes it stand out a bit. I don't know if you can see that I used the Crop-o-dile to dry emboss little circles across the card where the sentiment is at. Just a little something to jazz it up a bit but so easy anyone could do it. Overall this is really very simple to make but yet I think it is really elegant looking.

This was made using the new set Always. I didn't order it right away, but it was one that caught my eye. As Valentines Day approached it was calling to me even more! I thought the heart that is in this set would make beautiful Valentines. Well, I finally broke down and ordered it and I ever glad I did! Sometimes you see a stamp set and think you must add it to your collection, then you get it and hardly make anything with it. I've done that LOTS of times! Then there are those sets you get and you can't stop using them-Always is that set for me right now. I LOVE this set. I have really enjoyed using it!

Happy Valentines Dear Husband!

Here is the Valentine I made for my husband. Men are so hard to make cards for! To be honest, I don't own one single "masculine" set. This is a bit flowery, but I chose the red and black to try to make it a bit more manly. This was really simple! Isn't this heart the most beautiful heart ever?!? This is from the new Stampin' Up! set called "Always". I loved this set as soon as I saw it but put off purchasing it until I saw a few things using this set and then I could resist no longer! I heat embossed the heart with silver embossing powder (I did the same with the greeting that reads "you mean everything to me"). I heat embossed the berries with clear embossing powder on the black background. The pretty black ribbon is some that I purchased from Walmart. Anyway, I hope you enjoy some time with your sweetheart tonight!

Headed to My Secret Sister

Isn't this bike image the cutest!?!? This is a sneak peak of a set that will be in the Occasions Mini Catalog, the mini will be in effect from March 1-May 31. The printed paper on this card is also from that mini. I'm sending this card to my secret sister for the SCS Michigan Gathering that will be the first weekend in March! I can't wait! We will be meeting with about 49 other SCS ladies for a weekend of stamping, challenges, prizes and fun! Anyway, we have secret sisters and since my secret sister found out who I was, I don't have to hide my stuff and can share it with you all. I love bike riding so this image called to me as soon as I saw it. This image reminds me of biking on Mackinaw Island. Last year for our anniversary my dh and I took a weekend away to Mackinaw Island and biked all around the island and through the middle as well (a road I had never traveled on the island!). Anyway, we figure we biked about 15 miles that day! YES- 15 miles! But it was fun and beautiful. This is the card that one of my stamp club's did last week at our meeting. I hadn't used acetate when making a card base before but it really isn't any different from using cardstock as your base. I think the ladies enjoyed it! (I apologize for the glare from the lights on the front of this card!)

Supplies Used: Acetate sheet, Whisper White cardstock, Soft Sky cs, ink, River Rock ink, Always Artichoke cs, brad, SW Marker, grosgrain ribbon, Fall Flowers DSP, Circle Scallop punch, White Grosgrain Ribbon, Seeing Spots stamp set.

Valentine Bookmarks

A couple posts below I shared a card my 8 year old had made for her daddy who was sick. Now today I am sharing the Valentines my 5 year old and I created for her class party. Mom decided that bookmarks would be a fun Valentine to give out...I created a sample for her (on the far left standing up) and she did all the coloring and stamping of the hearts herself. I did the cutting and assembling. She wanted "cats for the girls and lions for the boys" so we used C.C. Designs stamp sets, Love Ya Lots and Love Ya Much. I couldn't make them too involved since she was going to be doing the stamping. She made 18 of these. I was pretty impressed she did them all! She was very particular too! Everytime she would get ready to do some more, she would lay out all the completed ones into a pattern and had to keep with the pattern...yellow face on one, black face on the next, and so on! You can tell she is a kindergartener learning about patterns!

Simple Tri-Fold Monkey

Here is another project made with CC Designs new Monkey Love stamps (available Saturday, February 9 at All That Scraps). This is the other image that is in the set (first image shown on the 2 cards before this post) and another sentiment. This is such a simple card with a different fold that we usually gravitate toward. This is a tri-fold card...wanna know how to make it? SO easy!

For this card I cut the Close to Cocoa cardstock to measure 4" x 11". I put it into my paper cutter horizontally and scored it at 3 1/2". Then I just folded the remaining portion over the front of the card. I then trimmed 1/2" off the front flap. That is it!

Supplies Used: (All supplies, except stamp set by Stampin' Up!) Close to Cocoa cardstock, ink, Creamy Caramel ink, aquapainter, Berry Bliss Designer Series paper, Lt. Pink Grosgrain Ribbon, half jewel ($1 bin from somewhere), Monkey Love stamp set (CC Designs).

Kids LOVE C.C. Designs!

Here is a project that my 8 year old did less than an hour after the new Monkey Love Stamps arrived from All That Scraps. She is constantly telling me she doesn't do a good job stamping and of course I reminded her that she just needs to practice. So today when her sick dad and 2 sisters were sleeping we stole an hour or so to go downstairs and work on some projects. While I did the project below, she worked on this card for her daddy. I was quite impressed with her ability to try shading the monkey using Creamy Caramel for the monkey and adding some Close to Cocoa on his body. These stamps are perfect for the kids in your life, don't hoard your stamps, let your kids play (after proper instruction on how to show your rubber love!!)
